Monthly Message
We are truly looking forward to welcoming all of you back for our Open House, Meet the Teacher, and of course the first day of school on September 3. I hope everyone has had a great summer and is ready for school year full of great experiences and growing socially, emotionally, and academically.
  • Starting with a positive outlook. Starting with a positive outlook is a very important way to help your child look forward to the year. Several of the featured articles and resources (found in the column to the right) focus on this topic.
  • Communication.Your communication with us is very important. It helps us to meet the needs of your child as we progress through the year. We will be working hard to make this best experience possible. Your feedback and communication is an incredibly important part of this.
  • Attendance. The students who learn and grow the most are those with the highest attendance rates. It is incredibly important that students are hear each day and are here for the full day. We understand illnesses, but growth happens when students attend. We enjoy it when all of our students are here with us!
  • Please, get involved. There are a number of opportunities to volunteer here at Guth. We are very lucky to have a lot of great volunteers, but we can always use more. Please connect with our Home and School Association - they do awesome things for us at Guth!

We said goodbye to some amazing people at the end of the year and through the summer. But we are excited to welcome some new and talented members to the Guth Community. I am pleased to introduce Katrina Garthe (Grade 1), Heidi Stevenson (Grade5), Beth Krout (Library), Rebecca Bradley (Learning Support TeachingAssistant), Andrea Allen (.5 Learning Support), Susan Gable (STEM/Gifted),Sheena Tenney (Art), and Jean Young (Strings) as the newest members of ourfaculty and staff. I am also happy to welcome back Heather Benson as well(Grade 5 long term substitute for Mrs. Jones). I look forward to the great contributions each will make to ourschool community.

Each homeroom will have a class Seesaw. For those of you who are not familiar with Seesaw, it is designed as a parent communication and digital portfolio. Your child's teacher will be able to communicate with you and you will be able to see some of the class activities and work your child does during the day. It is an awesome tool and a great way to get more engaged and involved.

A Growth Mindset will encourage students to keep working and take on challenges. Those of you familiar with Guth know we focus on Growth Mindset. We work to encourage students to think about growth and achievement, rather than what they can and cannot do. Praising hard work, problem solving, perseverance, growth, improvement, and taking on challenges, will encourage a child to feel confident and enthusiastic about doing things that are challenging and difficult. This is the best way to inspire growth. We will do this at school and hope that you will reinforce this mindset at home too.
